To many, Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 fashion show and album listening party was essential to be a part of in some way, whether it was going to a theater or signing up for Tidal just to watch a livestream. To others, the experience is absolutely miserable, like for the models forced to stand still for more than an hour while Kanye horsed around with Young Thug and Travis Scott.
As Distractify points out, these rules (seen in the tweet above) are contradictory, with edicts like “DO NOT BE CASUAL” alongside “BEHAVE AS IF NO ONE WAS IN THE ROOM.”
“The show supposedly went off without a hitch (Taylor Swift lyrics aside), so the models must have understood these cryptic guidelines better than myself,” writes Distractify’s Lindsey Robertson.
They certainly suffered for it. One anonymous model wrote on Jezebel that the 12-hour day and the endless standing still was excruciating.
There were people in the group that were like, “This is the best day of my life!” Mentally, it was tough because you’re figuring it out as you go along. You’re just expected to comply and follow. I felt like cattle. I felt like I was being herded into a concentration camp or something. It’s not something I would want to do again. But I wouldn’t say I regretted it.
Don’t think I would say the same for myself, if I were in her position.
