Nelly is the kind of artist who aims to be absolutely everywhere, even in your balanced breakfast. He simply has to have that crossover appeal. This is why when news comes out that Nelly will be releasing a country music EP called Heartland, it’s not much of a surprise. The St. Louis rapper has tiptoed into country before with duets with Tim McGraw and Florida-Georgia Line, to enormous success, so why not delve deeper into that world? Plus, remember “Country Grammar?”
According to Billboard, he’s now joining the proud tradition of rappers gone country, like “Accidental Racist” LL Cool J and, well, there haven’t been that many. (Bubba Sparxxx, maybe?) Anyway, being that Nelly already has a built-in audience for this, he will probably fair pretty well in Nashville. If they don’t stop his tour bus.
