In the waning months of United States President Barack Obama‘s final term he’s been letting his hair down a bit, enjoying himself and speaking his mind unlike we’ve seen from him during the past seven-plus-years. President Obama has made it clear that he’s a fan of rapper Kendrick Lamar, with Lamar making multiple appearances at the White House, including a Fourth of July bash.

Obama’s 55th birthday party turned out to be no different of an affair, says Consequence of Sound. President Obama’s official favorite rapper, Kendrick Lamar, was once again in attendance, along with a host of other music industry heavies like Beyonce, Jay Z and John Legend. While they were there as guests, there were also performances to ring in the President’s 55th birthday, including Usher and Stevie Wonder.

For those looking for further documentation of the night, it’s rather sparse considering there was a media blackout surrounding it. While most of President Obama’s life is very public, he wanted to keep his birthday celebration a bit more private and low key. Magic Johnson’s wife, Cookie, did post on Instagram claiming that the President does know how to throw a party, though. Whomever follows him in office will have some big shoes to fill.
