Why are British people so great at creating dreamy, swirling sad bastard music? Is it in the water?
The collective discographies of both shoegaze giants Ride and no-qualifier-needed giants The Cure are a testament to the how wonderfully sad inhabitants of that brilliantly mopey little island can get. But in case you needed a reminder, Robert Smith of The Cure just dropped a (great) remix of “Vapour Trail,” one of Ride’s biggest hits. Get your fall going right and give a listen to the track up top.
Smith remixed the track to hype up the 25th anniversary re-release of Ride’s landmark album Nowhere. Though they won’t be featured on the re-release, a quick look at the cover art makes it seem like we might get a few more remixes from Smith before it’s all said and done. Which is awesome, because his take on “Trail” is fantastic.
