We don’t really know how Stephen Colbert’s attempt to drop the act and take on late night will shake out, but we do know that his musical guest selection will be absolutely on point.
We’ve previously shared that Kendrick Lamar and a mysterious Paul Simon tribute band will take the stage on the first week. Now, the schedule for the second week has dropped and one particular performance stands out. Indie rockers TV On The Radio and rappers/serial f*ckboy killers Run The Jewels will be performing together.
Not on the same night, but at the same time.
There’s no word yet on what the collaboration entails but keep your fingers crossed that Run The Jewels are going to rap while Tunde Adebimpe and company make cat noises with their mouths.
Other notable musical guests from the show’s second week include Willie Nelson and The Dead Weather. Weather’s appearance will be the Jack White-led group’s first live performance in five years.
On the non-musical side, Colbert will sit down with presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (after interviewing Chris Christie and Jeb Bush in his first week), actors Kevin Spacey and Lupita Nyong’o, comedy legend Carol Burnett and Broad City comedians Abbi Jacobson and Illana Glazer.
