Since her stunning hybrid performance of dance and workout moves in Kanye West’s “Fade” music video that premiered on Sunday night’s VMA’s, Teyana Taylor has gained a lot of career momentum in the past few days. The actress and singer, who is signed to Kanye’s GOOD Records and Def Jam, has booked a stint on VH1’s hip-hop drama The Breaks as well as the game show Hip Hop Squares, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Breaks, entering its second season, is inspired by a book called The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop by author Dan Charkas, and the VH1 series centers around three friends who are trying to make it in the hip-hop world of early ’90s New York. Taylor, a New Yorker herself, will play a newly signed rapper on the show, and she joins Uncharted alum A-F-R-O on the show.
In addition, Taylor also will appear on the network’s upcoming Hip Hop Squares — a spinoff of Hollywood Squares and a game show that tests contestants’ knowledge of culture, hip hop, comedy and entertainment.
Though she wasn’t always a household name for her acting, Teyana Taylor does have other credits to her name, and she’s been working her way up in the entertainment industry since she was a teenager. She starred in Stomp the Yard 2, Madea’s Big Happy Family, and MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen. Oh, and of course the “Fade” video, which is below if you somehow missed it.
