It’s only right for King of the Fall The Weeknd to return on the first day of the new season with brand spanking new music for our unworthy ears. The XO artist just let loose his latest single ‘Starboy’ from his upcoming Starboy album which drops November 25th.
The smooth single featuring Daft Punk sees the R&B crooner being as confident as ever while crooning about his lifestyle and mastering the lane he created for himself. Earlier this month, The Weeknd revealed his third album was going to be his best work to date, which I think is impossible in a world where House of Balloons, OG version, already exists, but okay!
“The production feels aggressive but still sexy. The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince, and DeBarge play roles, he told the latest issue of V Man magazine. “We wrote it all in Los Angeles. I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done. It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced.”
Starboy will be The Weeknd’s third studio album since creeping his way onto the scene with his mixtapes in 2011. While his debut album Kiss Land wasn’t commercially successful, Abel found great success with his wildly popular sophomore effort, Beauty Behind The Madness. The album nabbed The Weeknd a Best Urban Contemporary Album Grammy and a Best R&B Performance Grammy for “Earned It.”
Starboy lands November 25th and will boast 18 tracks for your listening pleasure.
