Democratic presidential nominee and Golden State Warriors fan Bernie Sanders is pretty popular among the creative types, especially musicians. Bands like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend, and Grizzly Bear have all rallied behind the Vermont Senator. Sanders has even gained a close friendship with Run The Jewels rapper, Killer Mike; their friendship is so close that the senator introduced the group at this year’s Coachella.
Now Sanders has a new musician who hopes to help his presidential campaign. Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore plans to release a 7″ felxidisc record of the new single “Feel It In Your Guts,” which just so happens to also feature excerpts from Sanders campaign speeches.
According to the record’s description, Moore’s flexidisc single will be a “twelve-string acoustic piece laced with excerpts from Bernie Sanders’ speeches, touching on topics like the worship of money, economic inequality, social justice, and the need for basic human rights for all people.”
“Feel It In Your Guts” will be limited to 1000 copies through Joyful Noise Records and includes a screen printed album cover from Dave Kloc. Not only that, but the record will be free. Well, not really. In order to receive the limited single, you must first make a donation to Sanders’ presidential campaign. You’re allowed to donate whatever amount you want, but as the description says, “there is no donation minimum, but we reserve the right to cancel your order if we feel like you’re being an opportunistic d*ck. Dig deep. Feel it in your guts.”
