“The King of Latin Pop” may be able to woo music lovers with his words and hips, but he doesn’t stand a chance against drones. It’s not even close.
At one of his concerts in Mexico over the weekend, Enrique Iglesias attempted to grab one that was flying around the stage and … failed miserably. The little airborne machine — which was there to document the event — nearly chopped off a few of the “Bailamos” singer’s fingers.
“During the show a drone is used to get crowd shots and some nights Enrique grabs the drone to give the audience a Point of View shot,” a representative for Iglesias explained in a statement. “Something went wrong and he had an accident. He decided to go on and continued playing for 30 minutes.”
Yes, despite “bleeding profusely,” Iglesias forged on, cut up and everything. In fact, he took a page out of a horror stalker story and used his blood to draw a “heart” on his white T-shirt in honor of the 12,000 people in attendance. Perhaps he should’ve gone all punk rock and hurled a beer bottle at the drone? Or sucker punched it à la that one badass kangaroo?
UPDATE: Iglesias is undergoing reconstructive hand surgery after the incident.
