Over Grammys weekend, an all-star lineup of musicians came together to honor Stevie Wonder, who’s not dead, and yet EVERY music-based award show still pays tribute to him like he is. The special aired on CBS last night, and although Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and Janelle Monáe each gave it their all, the single best performance was Beyoncé’s medley of “Fingertips,” “Master Blaster (Jammin’)” (with Ed Sheeran, who apparently is going to keep being a thing, probably because of Taylor Swift’s witch powers), and “Higher Ground” with Gary Clark, Jr.
Before I knew Stevie’s original, I knew the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ cover because I am bad at music. Sorry, Stevie!
