This guy is pitching right now…why aren't you watching #fatguyTD pic.twitter.com/0RGrEM2yYR

You probably had approximately 7,000,000 things to do last night before you would have made the decision to sit on ESPN3 and watch the NAIA baseball national championship game between St. Thomas and Lewis-Clark State. We don’t blame you if you didn’t watch, but know that you missed out on the Internet’s new favorite athlete, St. Thomas pitcher Ben Ancheff.
Calling Ancheff a big dude doesn’t totally serve him justice. According to a screenshot that Deadspin pulled, he’s 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, but he looks like he’s a french fry away from tipping the scales at 350. He’s not exactly Felix Hernandez, either, as Ancheff came into last night with a 5.40 ERA and a 3-2 record with seven strikeouts and four walks in 16.2 innings pitched.
But just look at this guy! He’s an imposing figure on the mound, as you can see in the following tweets:
Whoever says "Pitchers aren't athletes" obviously haven't seen St. Thomas' Ben Ancheff in NAIA WS. @SportsCenter pic.twitter.com/vdKHTbqMNv

Sadly, St. Thomas fell 10-7 last night, and Lewis-Clark State won the national title. The silver lining is that Ancheff pitched really well, as he allowed one run and two hits with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. He’s only a junior, so hopefully we’ll see our hero again next year as he guns for a national championship. If not, hopefully he goes pro and ends up on the Milwaukee Brewers, because a 1-2 punch of himself and 305 pound reliever Jonathan Broxton would be spectacular.
