As Marcus Mariota waits to figure out where he will play next season he received a special message from his alma mater.
In a video that at times felt part-eulogy, part-retirement party, University of Oregon student-athletes said goodbye and thank you to Marcus Mariota. The mascot even popped up to send his best wishes.
Mariota was one of the most successful quarterbacks in Pac-12 history. He won 36 games in three years as a starter and was one of the most decorated players in Oregon’s history. In those three years as starter he passed for 10,796 yards and 104 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions. He won the Heisman and the Associated Press’s player of the year in 2014.
In most mock drafts Mariota has consistently been the number two pick overall, but almost no one believes he will actually be playing for the team currently picking there, the Tennessee Titans. He’s been linked to the Chargers, Redskins, Jets, Rams, and yes, Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles.
