Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here? Why, it’s a Saved By The Bell theme-restaurant, of course, and it’s coming to Chicago later this spring. It’s called Saved By The Max, and it’s a pop-up diner that will open in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood on June 1.
Saved By The Max will be modeled after The Max Diner, the hangout of choice for teens Zack Morris, Kelly Kapowski, A.C. Slater, Jessie Spano, Lisa Turtle and Screech Powers. It will feature food named after the characters, including AC Sliders and Preppy BLTs, along with cocktails based around the show’s themes.
The restaurant will also reportedly feature daily costume contests for cash prizes, as well as weekly events like karaoke and trivia contests that will surely test how well you know your favorite 1990s Saturday morning television show. For instance, what was Jessie Spano’s step-brother’s name? Do you know it without googling?
The exact location of the diner has not yet been announced, and it should be noted that it’s in no way affiliated with NBC Productions or Rysher Entertainment. However, once it opens, you can bet fans of the show will be out in droves. I, for one, am so excited. I’m so excited!
Well, maybe not as excited as this guy:
