‘The Walking Dead’s’ Jeffrey Dean Morgan Adopted A Famous Donkey-Emu Couple Named Jack And Diane

Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Negan on The Walking Dead. He’s a character known for carrying a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire who is quite cruel. In real life, though, Morgan isn’t so bad. In fact, he’s such a good guy that he adopted an Internet-famous animal couple this week.

Morgan heard about the Jack and Diane, a donkey and emu with a very strong bond, on Twitter. The odd couple were in need of a forever home after their previous caretaker abandoned them earlier this year. They ended up in the care of Charlotte’s best-known animal shelters, and then they drew the attention of a guy who may not exactly be known for his gentle demeanor.

Via The Charlotte Observer:

The odd pair – emus are similar to ostriches – are so closely bonded that they’re refusing to leave each other’s side, says Jennifer Gordon of Carolina Waterfowl Rescue outside of Charlotte.

“They like to cuddle and even sleep together,” Gordon told The Charlotte Observer. “We can’t separate them, so we need someone who is willing to adopt both a donkey and an emu. That may not be easy.

The 5-foot-5 donkey “started crying” and the 6-foot-tall emu “got frantic” and paced around like an expectant father, she says.

They’re now being kept in the same enclosure, as they await an adoption that she predicts will likely never come.

Never say never. Not while Jeffrey Dean Morgan is around.

To recap: Negan from The Walking Dead adopted a famous donkey-emu couple named Jack and Dianne. No, Jeffrey Dean Morgan adopted the MOST FAMOUS DONKEY-EMU COUPLE EVER. And they just happened to be named Jack and Diane. Did he adopt them because he’s an animal lover with a heart of gold or because he’s the ultimate John Cougar Mellencamp memorabilia collector with a heart of gold? You can decide that for yourself, just stop being so mean to him on the street.

Here’s Morgan earlier this year, talking about how people perceive the man who gives life to Negan on AMC every week. Via The Irish Examiner:

Really I have people look at me as if I am going to take out a baseball bat and crack them in the head at any given moment so as much as I kind of like that respect that I get now, or maybe lack thereof – I get a lot of ‘screw yous’, only not that nice, from across the street.

Well, that can stop right now. Partly because Jeffrey Dean Morgan doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment, but mostly because this donkey and this emu are very cute.
