YouTube Star Sam Pepper Apologizes And Admits He Faked His Popular Prank Videos

Sam Pepper is a fraud. The popular YouTube star with more than two million subscribers has made a name and a living by executing various pranks in increasingly strange and — some would say — disgusting ways. It turns out his pranks were fake. In a video released to clear the air, Pepper explained that he fabricated these pranks to attain success and keep up with the times. Pranking, while deemed as childish and absurd, is/was a big business for Sam Pepper, and it’s a difficult business to remain innovative in for the long haul.

“I’m not telling you this for any sympathy or whatever, I’m in this situation because of me, I just want to tell you everything, honestly. I was one of the first prank channels then all these other prank channels started coming out and they’d be doing more and more and more crazy stuff … that’s when I worked out ‘all this stuff is fake, like we believe it all but it’s really fake.’ “

But this led him to crazier and crazier pranks, which don’t seem all that crazy now considering they were fake. And besides, Jackass Number 2 had a pretty good “people being kidnapped and shot” prank itself, so he wasn’t ever that original to begin with. That means the “prank” was actually on us, the viewers.

After the “I’m sorry” video, Pepper went on YouTube show Drama Alert to address his rape allegations (not a prank) and to finally (maybe) shut the book on his YouTube career.

Is Sam Pepper really gone forever, or is this all just all a big joke? You know, another prank?
