Where Will Gregg Popovich Be When Free Agency Opens At Midnight? ‘In Bed’

The San Antonio Spurs are expected to be one of the busier teams in free agency this offseason. Not only is the squad expected to re-sign star forward Kawhi Leonard, but the Spurs are one of the teams that have been heavily linked to Portland forward LaMarcus Aldridge. In fact, San Antonio is actually sending a group which will include forward/center Tim Duncan, guard Tony Parker, and head coach Gregg Popovich that will meet with Aldridge on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

With the free agency window officially opening on Wednesday at midnight, you can expect that most teams will have their phones ready to go so they can get free agents on board ASAP. However, if the Spurs do this, the club will be without the services of Popovich, because he’s going to be asleep the clock strikes 12:00.

We’re willing to bet Popovich’s refusal to make a midnight phone call won’t be a deal-breaker for most free agents. Even if it is, Pop will probably still find a way to guide a roster filled with undrafted free agents and aging veterans to 50+ wins and a four-seed in the Western Conference next year.
