If your favorite dish is Cleveland sports fan schadenfreude, you’ve been eating well for your whole life. The past couple of weeks, though? Not so much. LeBron James and the Cavaliers overtook the Golden State Warriors to change the narrative of the NBA, break a decades-long streak of no professional championships in Ohio, and become a factory of happy memes.
The latest bit of folly from Cleveland, much to the contrary, puts on display exactly the kind of silly sad-sackness you expect when you hear that a tale about a Midwestern sports fan, watching a big game, is on the horizon. This jubilant fan cannot quite control himself well enough to not injure his ankle, which Deadspin shows is now pretty badly injured. Eat up, haters.
Also of note in this video is the fan’s reckless treatment of a plastic pretend house (ostensibly his child’s), which he tosses Godzilla-like when the Cavs clinch the title, as well as his apparent readiness to swim. This is a cautionary tale; sports glory is great, but if you are not properly dressed and stretched before it comes, you may hurt yourself. Please, ladies and gentleman, do not watch the NBA Playoffs standing up, if you are excitable.
