Three Guesses Why LaMarcus Aldridge Deactivated His Social Media Accounts

LaMarcus Aldridge deactivated his social media accounts following the San Antonio Spurs’ blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors. Some are speculating it’s because Aldridge didn’t want to deal with all the trolls, but what if it wasn’t? Why would the incredibly un-clever quips from Twitter eggs bother him more after a mid-January loss than after he signed with the San Antonio Spurs? He’s a professional athlete, and they’re used to dealing with crap like that.

We don’t know exactly why Aldridge deactivated his accounts, but we have some highly uneducated guesses.

1: He’s smarter than all of us.

Seriously, who needs Twitter anyways? It wasn’t the trolling or the backlash that got to Aldridge, it was just the recognition that he could be doing literally anything better with his time than tweeting. Maybe he went to go read a book or spend time with his kids. Good for him.

2: He was tired of that username.

“Aldridge_12?”

Come on, that’s as lame as someone who just uses their first name, middle initial, and last name for their username. Aldridge is probably just laying low, huddling with his friends and PR team to find the perfect username. When it debuts, watch out, it’s going to blow us all away.

3: The account was a fraud.

Yes, as it turns out, all of Aldridge’s Instagram posts and tweets were from someone posing as him. Somehow, someway, they got verified as Aldridge and had been posting as him all this time. Aldridge, previously blissfully unaware of social media, had this brought to his attention, and reached out to Twitter to fix the issue. His account will be back up soon, and this time, he’ll be the one posting updates.
