Draymond Green Shared A Touching Moment With An Emotional Steph Curry After His Injury

Steph Curry‘s knee injury in Game 4 of Golden State’s series against the Houston Rockets is serious cause for concern. As of Monday morning, the team is awaiting the results of an MRI that will determine the severity of his injury, which is currently diagnosed as a sprain. It seems unlikely that Curry will suit up for Game 5, but his long-term health relative to the Warriors’ playoff run is the big thing.

Regardless, leaving Game 4 was hard for Curry, who was understandably quite emotional in the huddle when he found out he wouldn’t be able to play for the rest of the game. But that’s when teammate Draymond Green shared heartwarming words for the reigning league MVP, as detailed by Marcus Thompson of the San Jose Mercury News:

Curry had just been told he could not go back in the game. Every bone in his body wanted to play but his ligaments overruled them. His ailing right knee wasn’t going to allow him to play. His crushed spirit wasn’t going to wait for the privacy of the locker room.

“Get out of here,” Green told Curry. “Don’t let them see you like this. Don’t let them see you cry. We will hold you down. We got this. We will win this for you.”

“To see a guy like that, Steph go down,” Marreese Speights said. “He never gets emotional. He always keeps his composure. To see him like that, we felt his heart.”

For as invincible as Golden State has seemed this year, this is an inside glimpse into how tight this group really is when their mortal side shows.

Golden State is up 3-1 on Houston. The Warriors have proven more than once already that they can beat the Rockets without Curry in the lineup. Still, the uneasiness for Warriors fans revolves around that MRI and its conclusion. If it’s the worst-case scenario, Golden State will need a lot more hero ball moments from its supporting cast.
