According to Entertainment Weekly, Jonah Hill is in negotiations to write and executive produce an adaptation of 21 Jump Street for Sony.

The series, which ran from 1987 to 1991 on Fox, centered on a group of young cops whose youthful appearance allowed them to work undercover in high schools and colleges and search out troubled kids. Sony declined to give any details on the tone or direction of the movie.

What a coincidence, when I was in high school, my youthful appearance allowed me to work undercover as “guy who never gets laid.”  I was dedicated to my work back then.  Anyway, I’m guessing hiring Jonah Hill means they’re making it a comedy, which is a good idea. I mean, it’s 21 Jump Street.  Might as well make the humor intended. Or they could bring back Richard Grieco and make it about child porn. *crosses Richard Grieco child porn accusation off to-do list*

Must-watch clip from original 21 Jump Street after the jump, featuring Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, and a guy with the sweetest mullet I’ve ever seen.
