Guillermo del Toro has been talking about Justice League Dark for a very long time. Even in 2013, the Pacific Rim director enthusiastically discussed script revisions with anyone willing to ask him about the project. And most recently, del Toro offered an update this past April, saying the revisions were complete and awaiting approval from on high at Warner Bros. He even claimed that if he was unable to ultimately finish the project, “somebody (else would) do it.”

Now it looks like del Toro’s final quip about the project will come true since, according to the Hollywood Reporter, he’s no longer attached to the project:

[The film] was to have been directed by Guillermo del Toro, but insiders say the filmmaker, who is working on a sequel to Pacific Rim even as he preps his gothic horror movie Crimson Peak, is no longer attached to the project.

This, of course, remains unconfirmed by del Toro and Warner Bros. Yet reports like these often find their origins in a slight bit of truth, and considering (a) del Toro’s previous comments on the matter, and (b) his insanely chaotic schedule, there’s a good chance THR‘s “insiders” are probably right.

Dammit, del Toro. YOU HAD ON… actually, you had too many jobs.
