With the summer season winding down, Starz has begun ramping up its promotional efforts for their highly anticipated Ash vs. Evil Dead series. Recently, the network released some new groovy key art for the program and, over the weekend, we were treated to a brand spankin’ new trailer to whet our boomstick loving appetites. To keep the hype train rollin’, Starz released a new behind-the-scenes featurette on Tuesday to give fans an even closer look at Bruce Campbell’s return to the role of aging stockboy — and renowned deadite killer — Ash Williams.
Campbell is interviewed in the above video along with the likes of executive producer Rob Tapert and supporting castmembers Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, and Dana DeLorenzo. Sam Raimi’s return to the genre he helped mold promises a welcome blend of old-school horror and comedy that is sure to please fans far and wide. With references to the original movie trilogy and the promise of the gore and effects remaining practical, for the most part, I can’t help but be a little giddy when Lawless herself describes the 10-episode series as “a jolly splatterfest.”
As with any proper teaser, Ash gets the last word in by saying, “Shoot first. Think never.”
