After a smash run on Broadway in “You’re Welcome America. A Final Night with George W. Bush,”  Will Ferrell has taken his time finding a new feature film project.

In February, Ferrell seemed to be considering the comedy “B Team” with longtime buddy, director Adam McKay, but the status of that project which also included the very busy Mark Wahlberg is unclear.  Now, Variety is reporting Ferrell may segue instead to another comedy, David Dobkin’s “Neighborhood Watch.”

The movie would find Ferrell in the familiar role of a city guy who moves to the suburbs.  Not much else is known except once he joins the neighborhood watch, he uncovers a large conspiracy.  The Fox project would reunite Dobkin and Ferrell who worked together on “Wedding Crashers.”

Dobkin followed “Crashers” up with “Fred Claus” which was a box office disappointment and eviscerated by critics and audiences alike.  He’s still attached to a live action version of the superhero “The Flash,” but that project seems stuck in neutral at the moment.  How soon “Neighborhood” could begin production seems contingent on Ferrell’s participation.

One thing is for sure, the former “SNL” star will reappear on the big screen in the aforementioned “Land of the Lost” on June 5.
