This week in Superhero Movies: ‘Man of Steel’ is ready for launch

It’s officially Summer Movie Season, and news about the upcoming slate of superhero movies is coming at us fast and furious. Forthcoming titles from Marvel, DC, and beyond highlight such eclectic heroes as the X-Men, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Hit-Girl. Plus, an older title re-captures fans’ hearts. But the real star this week is Superman, ask Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” prepares for its June 14 opening with a bits of promotional material. Catch up on all this past week’s news, photos, trailers and general buzz here.

“Man of Steel”
Superman is everywhere you look these days, as the new film approaches theaters. Our visit to the film’s Chicago set answers some questions about the upcoming epic, but there’s a lot more of the comic’s expansive mythos that we’d like to see in a Supes movie.

“The Wolverine”
Director James Mangold reveals more about the movie’s seeming resurrection of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen).

“The Dark Knight”
Sure, it’s several years old, but the recently revealed peek at Heath Ledger’s “Joker diary” is reminded fans what an extraordinary performance — and film — it is.

“The Avengers 2”
Mark “Hulk” Ruffalo can’t wait to start shooting. And we can’t wait to see it.

“Guardians of the Galaxy”
This cast just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Say hello to multiple Oscar nominee Glenn Close

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
Meanwhile, the latest attempt at “TMNT” has added an Oscar-winner to its cast: The one and only Whoopi Goldberg.

“Kick-Ass 2”
A new theatrical banner features the grim visages of the sequel’s two main heroes. Bansky would approve.
