These Gyms Think The Smell Of Delicious Food Will Make You Work Out Harder, And They May Be Right

Food in a gym? That’s probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you’re thinking about hitting the elliptical for 90 minutes, but it’s definitely happening. There are some gyms out there aiming to combine your fitness experience with the best food for your health all in the same place. Sound weird? Think about this: how many of us have driven straight to sh*t food after a work out just because we’ve ‘earned’ it?

Ricky Cheuk runs The Warrior Muay Thai facility in Hong Kong and had the idea of putting a high-quality resto on the property. His reasoning is pretty straight forward: “You work out seriously, and then you need to be fed well.” But this isn’t just some pre-made wraps and a juice bar. There’s an open kitchen where all meals are made to order. There’s also a high-end coffee shop and plenty of space to chill with friends.

Cheuk and his team made sure the food and social space were front and center. “We put the food in the front because it’s not as intimidating to people,” he said. “Non-members can come in, grab a coffee, grab lunch. For our clients, we see it as a space where people can work out and then chill out; we want to create a community.” It makes a lot of sense that the people who are making sure your workout is working for you can also help you eat the food necessary to keep your body in clutch condition. Now bring these stateside, pronto!
