TV on the Radio has been so good for so long that it’s easy to forgot about them. None of the Brooklyn-based band’s albums are drastically better than the one that came before it, with the possible exception of 2006’s Return to Cookie Mountain, which is partially why 2011’s Nine Types of Light didn’t get the exuberant, end-of-the-year praise it deserved. Consistency isn’t as seductive to write about as up and down periods, which is a shame because TV on the Radio has been consistently great…and will continue to be, based on their rollicking new single, “Mercy.”
