N.W.A. May Be Going On A Reunion Tour With Eminem, So Get Excited Now

Back in the late ’80s, the original rebels of rap emerged: N.W.A. With a raucous sound, and a spirit that sprouted the middle finger to anyone who disagreed, the hip-hop group championed the gangsta rap aesthetic. Fast forward a decade, and a skinny white kid from Detroit named Eminem held the banner for rebellious rap, mentored, by no coincidence, by one of the founding fathers of N.W.A., Dr. Dre.

With the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, hitting theaters soon (it looks really good!), and with Eminem still spitting his acidic flows on the Southpaw soundtrack, it would behoove both entities — as well as the fans — to join forces and drop an atom bomb of awesomeness on our mentals. Well, the time has come.

In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Universal Studios’ chief Donna Langley, mentioned the studio’s interest in getting N.W.A. back together on tour to promote the film, with Eminem as an honorary member.

“We don’t have anything settled yet with everyone’s schedules, but we think it can create a lot of buzz.”

For now, mentions of a tour have been centered on European markets, but as the planning progresses, who knows if it will extend out into the states. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed.

Update: A rep for Dre and Em told Rolling Stone that they have no plans to tour together at this time.
