Gallant’s Face-Melting ‘Tonight Show’ Performance Earned Jimmy Fallon’s Enthusiastic Approval

Rising R&B singer Gallant may have made his Uncharted debut this week, but it wasn’t the only first for the star. He also made his first TV appearance in a major way Wednesday night by performing “Weight in Gold” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The powerfully soulful song is the first single from his debut album, Ology, and was one of the first songs to be heard Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio.

The captivating crooner begins the song while sitting on a small leather couch before forcefully standing up and putting all his energy into a memorable performance, displaying his powerful voice and dynamic range. Host Jimmy Fallon, for one, enthusiastically approved of the display, exclaiming “Oh my goodness, I told you! Standing ovation! Watch out for this guy!”

Gallant was featured on the season premiere of Uncharted, the original series about emerging artists, during which he shared his journey from being rejected from NYU’s Clive Davis School Of Music to jetting to Los Angeles. The split-second decision resulted in a significant buzz around his music and a performance at Coachella, where the living legend Seal joined him on stage to give him a major co-sign.

And now, the young singer has a performance on The Tonight Show and an emphatic approval by Jimmy Fallon underneath his belt. With all the momentum Gallant has going behind him, there’s nowhere to go but up. It’s a perfect time to get familiar with him.
