Nick Jonas Shares A Fantastic Story About Donald Trump At The Miss USA Pageant You’ll 100% Believe

The political rise of Donald Trump long ago resulted in what the presumptive Republican nominee always wanted from his inexplicable campaign — more coverage. People as famous as Oprah Winfrey (and as unknown as a middle school-aged comedian from a viral video) have had to discuss the New York real-estate mogul in public because, quite simply… he’s there. So is Nick Jonas, whose recent late-night story about a poorly timed erection was trumped on Thursday when Late Show host Stephen Colbert asked him and fellow guest Demi Lovato about the 2013 Miss USA Pageant.

Jonas served as master of ceremonies for the televised competition which, at the time, was still owned by Trump. So, of course, the Donald had to make an appearance at his own pageant, and when Jonas introduced his boss to the camera without a functioning teleprompter, he screwed up. It wasn’t a Steve Harvey-level gaffe, mind you, but it was big enough to earn an immediate, angry rebuke from Trump:

The prompter went out, and I was up there all by myself with nothing. No script. So I said, “One of the most important people in the room, Mr. Donald Trump.” And when he came up, he’s like, “The most important person.”

Or as Colbert quipped right after, “That’s actually his campaign slogan.”

Jonas, who was on the Late Show to promote his latest solo album, Last Year Was Complicated, as well as his tour with Lovato, also performed the new single “Close” to close out the program.
