Run The Jewels Released A Virtual Reality Music Video For ‘RTJ2’ Track ‘Crown’

El-P and Killer Mike of Run the Jewels have always been one to push the limits and try something new. What other hip-hop group could re-record their entire album with cat sounds? Well, now the duo are back with another boundary pushing item — virtual reality.

For this year’s Record Store Day, Run the Jewels have teamed up with The New York Times and virtual reality company WEVR to deliver one of their most creative items, VRTJ. With WEVR, El-P and Killer Mike have created their own cardboard VR viewer which will be needed to fully experience the virtual reality video for the Run the Jewels 2 track “Crown.”

Not only will you need that custom designed cardboard viewer, you’ll also have to download The New York Times VR mobile app in order to watch and immerse yourself in the full video. Along with the video, fans will be able to interact in the Art the Jewels interactive gallery, view live performances, more Run the Jewels VR material, and much more.

You can watch the 30-second 360° preview for “Crown” above and for the full video, head to The New York TimesVR mobile app for iOS or Android.
