Chris Brown Got Back On Instagram To Deny Throwing Shade At Drake

G*ddamn, it’s been an eventful weekend. First, Lil Wayne officially thew up his hands and declared his own rap career over, effectively announcing his retirement. Then, of course, came the outpouring from Wayne’s fans, and more specifically Chance The Rapper, Drake, and even Young Thug stanning hard for their idol.

But as we previously noted, Drake’s pledge of loyalty came with a side of shade — ” I don’t know what these other weirdos are on with all the side talks but I know you gave me a shot and all I can ever do with the rest of my life is return the favo.” — which was directed at Chris Brown who seemed to be dissing Drake in his own now-deleted homage to Wayne. Brown wrote “If it wasn’t for him a lot of these fake ass rappers wouldn’t get an opportunity.”

Sigh, did you follow all that? Anyway, Brown has now clarified — via an Instagram comment deep dive that was subsequently screenshoted — that he was not shading Drake.

This really feels more like junior high than any moment I ever spent in Patton Middle School, but I’m glad Brown is at least attempting a semblance of politeness. Really, I can’t handle it if Drake has a cold war going on with more than one person at a time. And given his recent rekindling with Rihanna, this could’ve gotten ugly quickly. So let’s all move along. Honestly we all need to focus all our positive energy on Wayne right now anyway.
