This happened late last week, but I’m just now getting to it because — let’s face it — the whole “someone said something stupid and inflammatory” story happens all the damn time, and it’s rarely interesting unless someone gets fired. Well, CNN’s Rick Sanchez got fired on Friday, because he called Jon Stewart a bigot and said that Jews control the media. And there’s nothing the Jews in charge of the media hate more than being called out like that.
“I think to some extent Jon Stewart and [Stephen] Colbert are the same way. I think Jon Stewart’s a bigot,” Sanchez said, noting Stewart’s upper middle class suburban upbringining and claiming he was biased against “everybody else that’s not like him.”
“[Stewart]’s such a minority, I mean, you know…Please, what are you kidding?…I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they—the people in this country who are Jewish—are an oppressed minority? Yeah.” [Note: sarcasm] [E! Online]
CNN let Sanchez go by the end of the day, and Stewart poked fun at him during the Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars,” which was also run by Jews, according to my source* at the scene.
