Here’s The ‘Cosmos’ Opening Credits Set To ‘Space Jam’ By The Quad City DJs, Because…

Look, I don’t really know why I set the opening credits of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Cosmos to the song “Space Jam” by the Quad City DJs. It’s not important. What IS important here, however, are these three things:

  • It … it kinda works. Like, really well. All I had to do was trim about a half second of dead air off the beginning of the song, and all of a sudden beats started synching up with actions, and the rise at the chorus matched up with the space explosion leading into the on-screen title. It’s kind of like the time I set the one Southwest commercial to the score from Requiem for a Dream and it matched up perfectly, somehow, turning a happy ad about a friendly airline into what looked like a short film about an evil organization trying to take over the world. Which brings me to my second point.
  • I do not do drugs. I don’t care what you’ve heard, or from whom, especially if you’re a cop or my mom. I’m clean, okay?
  • There are not nearly enough songs these days that contain the line “Shake it, quake it, space kaboom.”

So, anyway, you’re welcome.
