Gotham is about to take a few weeks off, so for most shows, that means a modest cliffhanger to keep audiences talking. For Gotham, that means bringing back all the villains that are still alive to have them try and kill Bruce. Hey, this show never goes for half measures.
We’re not kidding, either: The promo alone features Mr. Freeze, who just had an excellent two-part arc, and Barbara Kean, the formerly annoying girlfriend of Gordon who got turned into a Joker-esque serial killer before supposedly being “cured” by Hugo Strange. Considering that Hugo’s most recent cure, the Penguin, just went all Titus Andronicus on his stepmother, we put the odds of that treatment being ultimately unsuccessful at somewhere around 1:1.
And, of course, all of this ignores the supposedly dead character making a return tonight, who is spoiled in the above promo and who you’ve probably guessed the identity of, but why spoil the fun? And, of course, this assumes all the other dead villains won’t be coming back, which is not a safe assumption. But we’ll find out just how successful Hugo Strange’s Lazarus pit routine is tonight, at 8pm on Fox. Join us, won’t you?
