This clip is based off a Jon Friedman joke that posits that most of “The Wonder Years” would be mostly people silently staring at each other if you removed Daniel Stern’s voice-over. It’s unsettling how much this plays out like a scene from “The Hills.” (Also, you may have seen this video on FilmDrunk this morning, but that’s because Vince doesn’t respect my jus primae noctis over TV-related content. As recompense, I slit his cat’s throat.)
While we’re on the subject of toying with the different sounds in media clips, I wanted to mention that I’ve had M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” in my head all day. Except during the chorus, I mentally replace the gunshots with dogs barking and the cash register sound with a cat screeching. “All I wanna do is – WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! — and — click, REER! — and I’ll take your money…”
If anyone can make that happen and send me an .mp3 of the song remixed like that I’ll PayPal you ten dollars immediately. Feel free to use this.
