Roseanne Barr — the grating, overweight comic whose popularity proves that no one had taste in the ’90s — is looking at a return to scripted primetime television, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The star of ABC’s long-running sitcom has teamed with one of the “Roseanne” producers, Caryn Mandabach, for a family comedy in which she would play the matriarch.
Jim Vallely (“Arrested Development”) is attached to pen the script for the project, which has been pitched to Fox. He would executive produce with Mandabach, Maggie Rowe and Barr.
Well, hell. Why not? Roseanne might be annoying and fat, but at least her old show was funny. For a while, anyway. You know, when it was about fat people yelling at their kids. Before all the preachy stuff about lesbians and pregnancy.
