Netflix, no longer just a time waster for when you want to watch an old episode of Murphy Brown instead of feeding your annoying kid who keeps talking over the Dan Quayle jokes, continues to add to their original programming library. There’s Arrested Development, of course, as well as House of Cards and Famke Janssen’s Hemlock Grove, but the streaming website will also be the home of a new 10-episode science fiction drama from the Wachowskis and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski called Sense8. The part of “science” will be played by Tom Hanks.
Netflix will bring Georgeville Television’s Sense8, a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted, exclusively to its members to watch instantly in late 2014.
The 10 episode season one of science fiction thriller Sense8 marks the first foray into television by the Wachowskis, the creative geniuses behind Bound, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, V for Vendetta, Speed Racer, and Cloud Atlas, and is the latest project from veteran show runner J. Michael Straczynski, creator of the Hugo Award-winning Babylon 5 TV series and whose film credits include Changeling, Thor, and Underworld Awakening. (Via)
Details on the project are sparse, but hopefully it’ll earn the Wachowskis their “creative geniuses” title more than any film of theirs that isn’t the original Matrix, V for Vendetta, or sex scenes in Bound.
