At this point, whether you wanted to or not, you’ve definitely heard about the Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift “feud” that lit up Twitter this week. Minaj highlighted some valid points about systemic racism and sexism following a VMA snub, Swift responded and demonstrated a misunderstanding of intersectional feminism and racial issues, and everyone got involved and blew it way out of proportion. However, Swift apologized and the two stars have since made up. That’s the end, right? WRONG. This whole brouhaha apparently still has legs in the media, and last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel explained the feud using emojis.
In the future, your grandchildren will ask you where you were when you first heard of The Swift/Minaj War of 2015, and you will tell them to go outside and read a damn book.
