Watch These Local News Anchors Get Trolled By A Fake Prostitute-Loving VDOT Employee

As with any major snow event, local news stations will inevitably turn to road crews dealing with the mess to give their audience a better understanding of how bad it is out there. Such was the case in Washington, D.C. last weekend, at the height of the #BlizzardOf2016, when NBC 4 anchors David Culver and Angie Goff got on the phone with a man who identified himself as “Jason Bond,” a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), to discuss road conditions.

The interview started out routinely enough as Bond relayed that his crews were working to clean up as best they could and advising viewers to stay off the roads. But things took a hard left turn when Goff inquired about stranded motorists, to which Bond replied, “Yeah, that’s the prime example. I mean my drug dealer and my prostitute were on the way, and you know, they couldn’t get it delivered. I… I couldn’t believe it.”

But the best part was that somehow, incredibly, neither Culver and Goff seemed to notice until the third mention of prostitutes when transportation reporter Adam Tuss intervened by frantically waving at the two from an off-site camera.

One person who didn’t think the stunt was so funny was the real Jason Bond — who as it turns out is a real person — the VDOT spokesperson for the past 21 years. He told the DCist: “I started getting calls from the D.C. area and I was just shocked. There were families that saw it, mothers with small children … I’m very dedicated to my profession and to maintaining my credibility. It reflects poorly on not just me, but on VDOT.”

Or maybe they can just roll with it and change their slogan to “VDOT: Your one-stop source for maps, data, project info, hookers and blow.”
