Kobe Bryant was back on the practice floor on Sunday in preparation for the start of the season. A bruised lower leg had kept Bryant from participating in LA’s final four preseason games, and augmented fears that Father Time had caught up with the five-time champion.
But those fears should abate, for now at least. It seems Sweet Lou Williams and Nick Young decided to bark at Bean. According to Metta World Peace — Bryant hasn’t spoken to reporters since he got injured in an October 13 exhibition game — it, uh, didn’t didn’t go well for his teammates.
Metta on Kobe's practice: "He was scoring in people's faces, talking trash." Someone apparently talked trash to Kobe and it fired him up.

Turns out there were *two* players who fired up Kobe by talking trash to him at practice today: Lou Williams and, no surprise, Nick Young.

This isn’t a new Kobe development.
Unsurprisingly, the sociopathic competitor turns practices into a war. Video was snagged last year of him calling his teammates soft as Charmin. Nick Young was heavily involved in that little outburst, too.
While Williams and Young may have borne the brunt of Bryant’s anger after deciding to jaw with someone who un-ironically refers to themselves as the Black Mamba, for Lakers fans, it’s a great sign. Metta World Peace added some more info to appease those Purple and Gold fans worried that the Kobe of old is done.
“You have to double Kobe,” he said. “You’re not going to just be able to guard him one-on-one. He’s hungry. He’s excited. He looks great. He’s still enjoying the game. That’s what’s most important.”
If it wasn’t clear already, health-wise, Kobe’s looking pretty good, too.
“He walked out [Sunday] and said it felt good, gave me the thumbs-up,” coach Byron Scott said. “You could see a little rust, but other than that, he was moving pretty fluid again. It was just good to see.”
If Metta is to be believed, “a little rust” and “pretty fluid” must be code for kicking butt and taking names.
