Who do the Cleveland Cavaliers think they are all of the sudden, the Golden State Warriors? That’s who they looked like in the early part of Game 2 against the Hawks on Wednesday night when they set an NBA playoff record of 13 made three-pointers in a half…with 7:37 remaining in the second quarter. This gorgeous possession above was emblematic of just how flawless their execution has been so far in terms of their spacing, ball movement, and outside shooting.
J.R. Smith was responsible for six of those as he shot a blistering 6-of-10 from downtown overall and finished the half with a team-high 20 points. LeBron James – whose woes from long-range have been covered ad nauseam – got in on the action as well as he went 3-of-4 from behind the arc. As a team, the Cavs were an incredible 18-of-27 from three overall (66.7 percent) heading into the break.
