We saw a brief teaser for Netflix’s Pablo Escobar drama, Narcos, a few weeks ago, but we now have an actual, full-length trailer full of explosions and mustaches and huge piles of cocaine. And it looks pretty good! As trailers containing explosions and mustaches and huge piles of cocaine often do! It looks kinda like Blow meets Cocaine Cowboys meets Bad Boys meets, uh, something else, probably. Not a complaint!
Here again is the summary of the project, which was created by Elite Squad director José Padilha:
Narcos is the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It centers on notorious Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) and Javier Pena (Pedro Pascal), a Mexican DEA agent sent to Colombia on a U.S. mission to capture, and ultimately kill him.
Yes, this will do just fine. A prestige-type series about Pablo Escobar’s rise to power, co-starring the Red Viper from Game of Thrones as the man trying to bring him down, directed by the guy behind Elite Squad will do juuuuuuuust fine.
Narcos debuts on Netflix on August 28.
