Experience A Taste Of Madness With This Preview Of ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’

Ever since its announcement at Comic-Con in 2015, excitement has been high for the DC Animation adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke. Alan Moore’s iconic story that tells a story about one of The Joker’s possible origins was controversial for its treatment of Barbara Gordon. But it also helped to establish a view on The Joker that has defined the character for years.

Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are returning to reprise their roles as Batman and The Joker respectively, putting the best foot forward for this adaptation. The pair appear in the tail end of the video, showcasing their iconic voices. There’s also a cool look at how the animators determined the art style they wanted to shoot for in the film, attempt to keep in spirit with Brian Bolland’s original work. The cool part is the addition of a Batgirl prequel to the story, a sort of attempt to give her more in the story than just playing the victim and daughter of Commissioner Gordon.

There might be some discussion about whether this is right for adaptation or if it even matters considering how many performances we’ve seen over the years that seem to top this version. But what you can’t deny is that all of those performances seem to start with this at some point. The production looks top notch and hopefully the final product will be as good as it looks.
