Throughout his five year-plus career, A$AP Rocky has done less than fifteen guest features total. Of those, very few have been for anyone outside of rap, with exceptions given to the likes of Rihanna and Selena Gomez.
While this might seems strange, considering features are how half his contemporaries build their bankroll, Rocky clearly has other endeavors that keep him working. Aside from working on his latest album with pop legends and modeling runways at NYFW, the A$AP Mob leader managed to find a free moment to give Mura Masa vocals for the British electronic music producer/songwriter’s latest sonic getaway “Love$ick.”
Infused with a lighthearted vibe that should come with a first-class ticket and some complimentary leis, this one was clearly created with crossover in mind, but the lighthearted mix of instruments and vocal tricks are far from the sound of your typical Top 40 radio record.
The Caribbean beat is built with a vibrant blend of fancy piano chords and melodies, high-end vocal samples, and a playful steel drum riddim to spice everything up, giving Flacko an ideal platform to reel listeners in with his chin up prettiness. That welcoming concoction should be enticing enough to reach the masses, and maybe even Rocky, who always delivers but rarely comes to bat.
