I love gummi candy as much as the next person. In fact, I may love it even more because I don’t know too many people who buy it by the pound on Amazon. However, even with a five pound bag of gummi delights currently on order, I still think it’s all sorts of madness for hundreds of people to be on a list for fancy, shmancy gummi treats. And yet, that’s exactly what’s happening!
A new candy shop in New York City is already making a name for itself because it’s now the home of rosé-flavored gummi bears, as well as other high-brow confections. Sugarfina just opened its doors last Wednesday, but it’s the talk of the town since it promised to bring booze-flavored gummies to the masses. Since the announcement, nearly 400 people have added their name to the waitlist for the anticipated gummi bear that’s made with Whispering Angel Rosé, a hoity toity beverage touted as “the world’s greatest rosé.”
Candy lovers can expect to pay an insane $8.50 for a 3.9 ounce “cube” of the sparkling, pink champagne bears, because buying a bag just isn’t fancy enough. A pound will run about $35.
If rosé-flavored gummi bears aren’t your thing, then maybe malt scotch-gummies are more your speed. Sugarfina has them for sale, as well as bubbly-flavored gummies and marshmallows dipped in 24k goooold. Good luck finding that at Walgreens.
“Sugarfina candies are unlike anything sold anywhere else — 75 percent of our collection is exclusive to Sugarfina and can’t be found anywhere else in the U.S.,” said co-owner Rosie O’Neill to DNA Info.
Despite the absurdly long wait, Sugarfina implores candy lovers with expensive tastes to contact them for their spot on the growing list. For everyone else, just continue soaking your gummi bears in vodka.
