The video above contains potential spoilers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
We already saw the final domestic trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but a new international trailer surprised us with some additional footage on Thursday, and Star Wars fans are excited about a couple of details from that. In particular, they’re wondering if Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) has a kyber crystal, which are confirmed to be found on her planet Jedha and likely the reason the Empire is invading. Kyber crystals are used to power lightsabers and the Death Star which Jyn’s father Galen (Mads Mikkelsen) is building under duress to repay a debt owed to Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) for saving the Erso family from kidnappers.
Jyn’s mother gives the crystal to a young Jyn, telling her to “trust in the Force.” The crystal is either white or colorless. If it’s colorless, that means no Jedi has bonded with it yet. If it’s white — as we just learned from the in-canon Ahsoka novel — that means it has been stolen back from a dark sider and “purified”. (Ahsoka possesses two white lightsabers for this reason.)
It doesn’t seem like Jyn is a Jedi herself, but some people are wondering if her mother is force sensitive:
Jyn Erso's mother is Force-Sensitive (or Force-Attuned). It's her connection that helped Galen tap into the power of the Kyber Crystals

That’s just one of the details hinted at or seemingly confirmed by the new footage. In the video above, Mr. Sunday Movies — who did breakdowns of the first Rogue One teaser, the Star Wars Celebration reel, and the first and second trailers — goes through a list of several rumors the international trailer seems to support. Something about the way he yells “confirmed!” at the sillier things amuses me.
