Disney’s highly successful 2012 film Wreck-It Ralph, in which the titular character is a video game villain who dreams of becoming a hero, sent nostalgic arcade players into a money-spending frenzy. At least, after all of the many licensing deals Disney procured with popular video game companies and franchises went through. Though inevitable, a sequel has been delayed primarily to said licensing deals, but according to actor John C. Reilly, Wreck-It Ralph 2 is just over the horizon.
Reilly’s in Ireland for the Galway Film Fleadh, a popular Irish film festival, and he broke the news during an interview with the local media:
That Reilly is signed on to reprise the role isn’t really a surprise, but that he’s even talking about coming back for the sequel renews the hope that it’s just around the corner. Because if watching players playing video games on YouTube and live streaming services is any indication, we love watching games just as much as we love playing them.
