UPROXX 20: Amy Fleisher Madden’s Last Meal Would Consist Of All The Gluten

Amy Fleisher Madden is probably best known for founding Fiddler Records at the tender age of 16. As the head of that indie label, Madden is credited for discovering and signing bands like Dashboard Confessional, New Found Glory, and Juliette and the Licks, and she went on to start Death + Taxes magazine.

These days, Madden works in advertising and recently published a novel titled A Million Miles, which is described in a press release as “an intense coming of age story told with the burgeoning indie/emo music scene of the late ‘’90s set as the backdrop. This story takes place in a scene that has been chronicled, but never truly exposed. Get in the van and drive around America with tour manager Maddy Traeger and her favorite band, Crimson + Clover.”

Amy was nice enough to take a few minutes out of her busy schedule recently to answer a few questions from us.

1. You walk into a bar. What do you order from the bartender?

Cranberry juice, on the rocks. Life is simple these days.

2. Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter?

It’s a tie. One of my editors, Kathy Cacace (@kathycacace) or an old friend, Eben D’Amico (@ebendamico).

3. What’s currently waiting for you on your DVR/TiVO?

Oof. Some episodes of New Girl and Bates Motel. Nothing else can wait. I have to watch Game of Thrones and most other HBO shows whenever/wherever I am when they air.

4. It’s your last meal — what are you going out with?

SO MUCH GLUTEN. Fried chicken, pancakes, mac n’ cheese, plain ol’ dinner rolls with butter… and as much lobster as I can eat.

5. What websites do you visit on a regular basis?

I find myself visiting the Google quite a bit.

6. What’s the most frequently played song on your mobile device?

Right now, “Heartbeats.” Both versions: Jose Gonzalez and The Knife.

7. The first face that comes to mind when you think “punchable?”

My brother.

8. What’s the last thing you googled?

How to correctly spell pee-pee.

9. Dogs or cats?

Hairless cats.

10. Best concert of your life was…?

There’s no way I can pick just one, and being able to tour with some bands that I truly love was one of the best experiences of my life.

11. What book are you most likely to give as a gift?

I have given Ender’s Game to pretty much everyone I know, so either that or my book, hah.

12. What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

Let me fail.

13. South Park or Family Guy?

South Park. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are some of the smartest people alive.

14. You have an entire day to do whatever you want. What would you do?

If it could involve a beach and everyone I love, that would be the best day of my life. Oh, and a grill. I love grilling.

15. What movie can you not resist watching if it’s on?

Spaceballs AND The Princess Bride.

16. The sports team or teams you’re most passionate about?

Any team live. I can get into sports in-person. On TV, not so much.

17. Where did you eat the best meal of your life?

The Mermaid Inn, East Village, August 2013.

18. The last movie you saw in a theater?

I think it was The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2? I used to see movies almost weekly, but I’ve been traveling so much. I just realized how many movies I’ve missed recently.

19. Who was your first celebrity crush?

Zack Morris… That cell phone, though.

20. What would you cook if Nic Cage was coming to your house for dinner?

There’s probably a really funny answer in here… Something to do with free-range chicken… But it’s not coming to me. Let’s go with a straight answer: Ina Garten’s Engagement Roast Chicken.

Thanks, Uproxx. This was fun!
