Abandoned Polls’ Video For ‘Sublime Currency’

Back in the early aughts I kinda fell for the music of a band, Abandoned Pools, that was really the work of one guy — Tommy Walter, the former bassist and one of the founding members of Eels — more than it was a full band. I adored “Humanistic” and “Armed to the Teeth” — the two previous Abandoned Pools albums — and have been listening to “Sublime Currency,” the newest Abandoned Pools release and the first in seven years, pretty much on repeat ever since I downloaded it last week. The video for the album’s title track is below — the song is hardly my favorite, but it’s kind of groovy at the same time and it contains what I think is a bit of an homage to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Enjoy…
