Adele is the way that the most of the English-speaking world makes sense of heartbreak. So when the news broke that love is dead, no doubt plenty of people were waiting on the English crooner’s response. Adele rose to the occasion by dedicating her entire night of sad bastard tunes at Madison Square Garden to Brangelina.
“Brangelina are broken up. I mean I don’t like gossiping and private lives should be private but I feel like it’s the end of an era,” she said of the passing of gossip magazine’s favorite portmanteau. “So, I dedicate this show tonight to them because honestly I’m really, really sad geniunely. I don’t know them at all but I was shocked when I woke up this morning, no word of a lie.”
Adele is to soul-shattering sadness as Carly Rae Jepsen is to the first giddy moments of a relationship, so Us Weekly readers will be coming to her to try and figure out the split of Hollywood’s biggest power couple into their component parts, which sources tell me are named Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie separately, but those aren’t real names, so that can’t be right. We’re willing to bet George Clooney fired up 25 in the car ride home after he was blind-sided by the divorce news like the rest of us.
